God's Will Against Satan's Perversion // Taylor Vice
In Book One of Paradise Lost, Satan states "Better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven!" (Milton 263). Satan views him serving in Heaven as him being lower than God, and Satan's pride will not allow him to be second to anyone. This causes Satan to grow a hatred towards God, and he is determined to do anything in his power to corrupt God's will.
A lot of people tend to react in an irrational way to situations they do not like. It may not be to this much of an extreme, but by human nature, we tend to react poorly to others if we do not agree with the things they do or say. For example, if someone is consistently mean to you, you tend not to like that person and you do not treat them the way that you would treat a person that you do like. Human beings react out of spite and say hurtful things, and this is because of the influence that Satan has had on us. This is all a part of Satan's plan to pervert God's will. Satan affects our everyday lives if we allow him to. It is our job to attempt to carry out God's will and do as he says, doing our best to avoid Satan's attempts to get us to join him. We will not be perfect, but we can always do better in our attempts to please God.
I commented on Elijah Mahn and Haylee Lynd's post.
You make a very great point. Satan went against God's authority, and he determined it was better to be damned for eternity than to follow the Creator. We've read the Bible, so we are aware of how the serpent convinced humans to essentially do the same thing.
